Finding Balance are mixed-media mobiles that explore the dynamics of scientific knowledge production while tracing the materiality of its meaning. The pieces are based on Science to Paper participatory Interventions at a Research Campus in Bangalore.

The work is inspired by conversations with researchers at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements. By tracing the research around the rapid urbanisation of Bangalore the concept of balance became prevalent as a guiding idea for successful, and sustainable city development. Balance thereby is not just an aesthetic concern but a question of political decisions.

This work combines handmade paper crafted from scientific publications, made in participatory interventions on campus with objects found in the city and on campus. The paper-shape is inspired by the historic and possible outlines of Bangalore.
